Understanding Cambridge Couples
Cambridge is a city of people who think for a living. The couples I see here are professors and postdocs, physicians at the teaching hospitals, founders and engineers from Kendall Square, attorneys and researchers, partners who are brilliant at what they do and often used to being the smartest person in the room. That is a gift and, in a relationship, sometimes a trap.
When two analytical, accomplished people hit a wall as a couple, they tend to try to reason their way out of it, or to read another book about it. Insight is not the problem. The problem is the pattern underneath the arguments, the one that does not respond to a better argument. That is the work I do, and it is the only work I do. I see couples, only couples.
My practice is based right here in Cambridge, near Huron Village. Sessions happen over secure video rather than in an office, which for most Cambridge couples is a feature: no parking near Harvard Square, no coordinating two impossible calendars around a commute, and no waiting room where you might see a department colleague or a neighbor.
Why Cambridge Couples Choose This Practice
Research-Backed Methods
EFT and the Gottman Method are the most studied approaches in the field. For couples who want evidence, not pop psychology, that foundation matters.
A Couples-Only Specialist
I do not split my attention across individuals, families, and kids. Couples work is my entire focus, training, and continuing education.
Built for Two Careers
Lab hours, clinical shifts, and startup sprints do not fit a 50-minute weekday slot. Evening and weekend 90-minute sessions do.
Genuine Privacy
Cambridge's academic and professional circles overlap constantly. Virtual sessions keep your work entirely your own.

I do not accept insurance but provide detailed documentation for out-of-network reimbursement. All sessions are virtual via secure, HIPAA-compliant video; you must be physically located in Massachusetts during our work together. See FAQs for insurance details.
What Working Together Looks Like
Whether you call it marriage counseling or couples therapy, the work here runs the same way: 90-minute virtual sessions at $750 each, starting weekly, with most couples seeing meaningful change within 8 to 12 sessions. It begins with a $100 consultation that is applied toward your first session. You need to be physically located in Massachusetts during appointments, and evening and weekend times are available, which is usually what makes it workable for two Cambridge careers.
The first session begins the assessment phase. I ask what brought you in now, the history of the relationship, the patterns you have both noticed, what you have already tried, and what you want therapy to change. We talk through what I see and settle on where the work goes from there.
Sessions start weekly on purpose. Weekly work builds momentum and keeps the pattern visible while it is still fresh, and as a couple demonstrates real follow-through between appointments we reduce the frequency together. The 90-minute length is there for a related reason: a 50-minute hour often ends just as something important surfaces, while the longer session leaves room to reach a natural stopping point rather than stopping at the clock.
The work is designed to create change and then end. Some couples come back later for periodic maintenance because they want to, but open-ended therapy is never the default here.
Common Questions From Cambridge Couples
Are you based in Cambridge?
Yes. My practice is rooted in Cambridge, near Huron Village and a short distance from Harvard Square. Sessions themselves are virtual, by secure video, so Cambridge couples get a local specialist without the waiting room, the parking, or the chance of running into someone they know.
How much does couples therapy cost in Cambridge?
Sessions are $750 for 90 minutes. Most Cambridge couples therapists charge $150 to $300 for a 50-minute session. My sessions cost more per appointment but run nearly twice as long, and the concentrated format means most couples need fewer sessions overall.
Do you offer in-person sessions in Cambridge?
I work virtually. Even for couples a few blocks away, video sessions remove the logistics that derail busy schedules, the commute across Cambridge traffic, the coordination of two demanding calendars, and they make the work easier to protect week to week.
What approach do you use?
I practice Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method, the two most rigorously researched models in couples work, with additional training in sex therapy. For the evidence-minded couples Cambridge is full of, that research foundation matters, and so does a therapist who works only with couples.
Do you work with academic and dual-career couples?
Constantly. Cambridge is full of professors, researchers, physicians at the teaching hospitals, and founders in the Kendall Square tech and biotech world. I understand the particular strain of two ambitious careers, lab and startup hours, and partners who are used to being the expert in the room.
Do you take insurance?
I do not accept insurance, but I can provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement. See the FAQs for how to use it with your plan.

How do we start?
It starts with a $100 consultation, applied toward your first session. You tell me what is happening, I tell you what I see, and we both decide whether working together makes sense. If you go ahead, the first session begins the assessment phase, covering what brought you in now, the history of the relationship, the patterns you have both noticed, what you have already tried, and what you want therapy to change.
